El ministro de Cultura, Abel Prieto Jiménez, presidió este domingo el homenaje a Mariana Grajales Coello, Madre de la Patria, en el cementerio Santa Ifigenia de Santiago de Cuba.
Acompañaron al titular las máximas autoridades del Partido y Gobierno en la provincia, una representación del pueblo santiaguero, así como artistas e intelectuales invitados a la clausura de la Feria Internacional del Libro.
Una ofrenda floral a nombre del pueblo cubano fue depositada ante el sepulcro de la heroína por el Ministro de Cultura y el artista santiaguero Alberto Lescay, escultor de la figura en bronce de la madre de los Maceo, ubicada en el corredor patrimonial del cementerio.
Al concluir la ceremonia, los asistentes, entre los que se encontraba el periodista francés Ignacio Ramonet, depositaron flores a Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, al Héroe Nacional José Martí y al líder histórico Fidel Castro. (Fuente:Radio Habana Cuba)
