La ciudad de Matanzas acogerá este fin de semana la Copa provincial Pioneril de Levantamiento de Pesas o Halterofilia, como también se le conoce, en la cual participarán niños entre once y doce años de edad.
La competencia, según declaraciones de Jorge Luis González, comisionado de este deporte en el territorio, permitirá además observar el desarrollo de atletas de la categoría 13-14 años, quienes fueron invitados a la cita yumurina.
Alrededor de siete municipios de la provincia estarán representados durante el Campeonato, estos son además del local, Jovellanos, Colón, Calimete, Unión De Reyes, Cárdenas y Pedro Betancourt.
Los representantes de este último municipio irán al torneo en busca de mantener el título que ocuparon durante la pasada edición del certamen, por lo que constituyen los rivales más fuertes de la lid.
Por otra parte, el comisionado señaló que el evento permitirá seleccionar a los pequeños que representarán al territorio en el Campeonato Nacional previsto para el mes de abril, para esa cita se presentará un atleta por sexo.
Aunque en la edición pasada del torneo Nacional el equipo que representó a Matanzas no alcanzó buenos resultados, el comisionado aseguró que este 2019 pretenden colocarse en el quinto lugar por provincias, teniendo en cuenta que lo consiguieron en la primera edición del evento dos años atrás.(Tomado de Radio 26)
