Completar equipos básicos de trabajo con especialistas en Pediatría y Obstetricia, fundamentalmente en el nivel primario, destaca entre las prioridades del Programa de Atención Materno Infantil (PAMI) en la provincia de Matanzas.
Pablo García Oropesa, jefe del PAMI en el territorio, declaró a la ACN que para lograr la cobertura del recurso humano en la atención primaria se incorporan nuevos profesionales de las especialidades clave en cada graduación.
La situación del Programa, con respecto al recurso humano, es desfavorable, y con la incorporación de nuevos especialistas se pretende fortalecer los servicios en los hospitales de los municipios de Colón, Jagüey Grande y Jovellanos, explicó el funcionario.
García Oropesa señaló que se insiste especialmente en el cumplimiento más estricto de los protocolos médicos establecidos en las áreas de Pediatría y Obstetricia, en función de reducir el riesgo de morbilidad y mortalidad materna e infantil.
El también especialista en Pediatría significó que al cumplir los protocolos y detectar a tiempo anomalías durante el embarazo se puede evitar en gran medida la prematuridad y el bajo peso, factores responsables de elevar el número de muertes en los infantes.
En lo que va de año tenemos más fallecimientos en la etapa postnatal, no así en la neonatal la cual exhibe mejoría a diferencia del 2016, señaló el doctor.
Malformaciones congénitas relacionadas con la prematuridad y el bajo peso, figuran entre las principales causas de mortalidad infantil, además de las sepsis, refirió García Oropesa.
A decir del jefe del PAMI, la provincia mantiene en la actualidad una tasa de mortalidad infantil por encima de cinco por cada mil nacidos vivos, y ya registró unos seis mil 700 nacimientos desde enero último, alrededor de 90 menos que en el año anterior. (Roberto Jesús Hernández Hernández/ACN)
